Halifax, MA – May 9, 2025 – The NEHC Junior Medal 3’3” took center stage on Friday at Fieldstone Show Park during the Spring Festival I, where a California split of the competitive class led to two blue ribbons. Rising to the top were Jessica Girouard aboard Brewster and Sarah Hirsch aboard Lucky Spot RW, each claiming first place in their respective sections.
The technical equitation course tested riders with questions including a rollback, a combination bending to a single, and a final bending line to close out the round.
Girouard, piloting her longtime partner Brewster, credited her round to staying focused on precision. “He had done a few courses earlier in the day, so I was just focused on keeping him straight between my hand and leg and supporting him at the base of the jumps,” she explained. “He’s the sweetest thing ever on the ground. He’s the best horse you could ever ask for, just amazing.”

For Girouard, this week at Fieldstone carries a special meaning. “I didn’t get to show much last season, and I recently switched barns. I board here now, and the energy at the show has just been so positive. I’m really excited to be back.”
Sarah Hirsch also impressed the judges aboard her new mount, Lucky Spot RW. “He’s only been doing the equitation for about two months,” she said. “He was a jumper, and since I got him, he’s been absolutely perfect. He impresses us every time he steps in the ring.”

Hirsch was also focused on keeping her horse comfortable and flowing. “We’re still getting to know each other, but I feel really confident in his stride, and staying straight after the jumps was key. He’s so fun to ride, it takes the pressure off and lets me stay in the moment.”
The Fieldstone Show Park is always a favorite venue for Hirsh and 2025 is no exception. “I’ve been coming here since the ponies, it was one of my first big shows and where I did my first New England Finals,” she said. “It’s close to home and it’s great to see all the upgrades. The footing is beautiful, the property looks amazing, and even the bathrooms are so nice now!”
Second-place finishes were awarded to Sybella Simek aboard SLS Arturo and Olivia Bergstedt aboard Quadras. Rounding out the top three were Emilee Pouladdej on Timmy Trumpet TL Z and Calais Mack with Zirocco Air.
Competition at the Fieldstone Spring Festival I continues through Sunday with highlight events including the $2,000 Open Hunter Derby and the $20,000 Grand Prix. For more updates, follow Fieldstone Show Park on social media or visit FieldstoneShowPark.com.
