Halifax, Ma-June 23, 2021- The first day of competition kicked off today with Professional and Open Divisions. Over 150 horses contested courses designed by Show Manager and Course Designer, Tom Hern. The 3’ Green Hunters were the first Rated Division to start off the morning with Fifi Schmidt and Samantha Perrault’s Frohlich winning the first class. When asked about Frohlich, this is what owner Samantha Perrault had to say:
"Frohlich is a 2015 Oldenburg Mare by Frohwind. I have had her for 3 years and she is just lovely. My favorite things about her are her ride-ability, amateur friendly attitude and her overall happy and easy going personality."
In the second over fences class of the 3’ Green Hunters, it was Rebecca St. Onge on Laurie Indressano’s Lucaya. Lucaya is a 12 Year Old Gelding by Levisonn. The 3’ Green Hunter Under Saddle Blue was captured by Jennifer Ritucci-Volandre on Sharon O’neil’s Thomas Crown. Thomas Crown is a 6 Year Old Oldenburg Gelding by Crown Affair.
Next up, the 3’3” Green Hunters took their turn over Tom Hern’s course. It was Jennifer Ritucci-Volandre riding Grafton Street, LLC’s NVF Fort Knoxx and Cailtin Venezia-White riding Meredith Combs’ Grey Lock who earned themselves a First and Second each. We caught up with Grafton Street, LLC to talk about this exciting new horse at Next Venture Farm for Jennifer Ritucci- Volandre:
“NVF Fort Knoxx is a 6 Year Old Warmblood Gelding owned by Grafton Street, LLC. His sire is Namelus R and his Dam is Diabell. We bought him two weeks ago as an International Hunter Derby Prospect. He was recently imported from Ireland where he was an event horse. Apparently, they realized he was better suited as a hunter. Today was his first time competing in the 3’3” Green Hunters and he had great success. I have been riding with Jennifer for many years and could not be more excited to watch her produce NVF Fort Knoxx. Keep an eye out for him in the International Derby Ring!”.
To finish out the division for the day, Jennifer Ritucci-Volandre and NVF Fort Knoxx took the Blue in the 3’3’ Green Hunter Under Saddle.
To round out the day, the 3’3” Performance Hunters took over the ring. It was Jennifer Ritucci-Volandre again, taking the two top spots but this time on Katelyn Coveney’s MTM Fashion. The 11 Year Old Oldemburg Gelding by Fiderstanz is a ride Jennifer has had in her barn for quite some time. MTM Fashion does double duty consistently producing top results for his owner Katelyn Coveney in the Junior Hunters, most recently being crowned Grand Junior Hunter Champion at the Saratoga Classic Horse Show.
One more trip around the ring for the 3’3” Performance Under Saddle brought out Johanna Hyypa on Skyler Wahlberg’s Colander. Colander is a 7 Year Old Holsteiner Gelding by Colman.
