Bentley Bassick and Olli Van De Zuuthoeve Top the Leaderboard in Thrilling Grand Prix

Halifax, MA - May 19, 2025 – The action continued at Fieldstone Show Park as Bentley Bassick and her longtime partner Olli Van De Zuuthoeve delivered a double-clear performance to take the win in today’s 1.30m Grand Prix, presented by Corinthian Insurance. The duo blazed through the jump-off in 45.67 seconds, topping a competitive field of entries. Jill Curtis claimed both second and third place with her horses Janiek H and Houdini. Janiek H delivered a double-clear round in 51.556 seconds, while Houdini crossed the timers in 54.174 seconds, picking up three time faults.

The first round of today’s course challenged riders with a time allowed of 86 seconds, featuring multiple combinations, sweeping bending lines, and a liverpool. The jump-off brought back four riders and presented bold inside turn options and another pass over the liverpool, testing both speed and control with a 52-second time allowed.

Bassick and the 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood showcased precision and adjustability throughout both rounds. "We were just going for a clear first round," Bassick said. "He was really good the other day, second in the Derby, so I went in thinking he’d be really good and snappy, and he was."

Olli’s journey back to the show ring has been nothing short of remarkable. After being sidelined by a severe case of EPM last spring, he has made an inspiring comeback. "He was almost put down," Bassick revealed. "We started back in the meters this winter, and by April, we were doing the 1.40m again. If anything, he’s come back even better than before."

Reflecting on her time at Fieldstone, Bassick noted her appreciation for the venue's evolution. "I really like it here. The new Grand Prix ring is definitely bigger, so we can go a little more," she said. With a strong win and an emotional comeback story, Bassick and Olli Van De Zuuthoeve proved that resilience and trust can lead to top results.
