Halifax, MA - May 16, 2025 – Friday at Fieldstone Show Park saw top junior riders step into the spotlight for the NEHC Junior Medal, where a thoughtfully designed course tested precision, planning, and poise. With rollback turns, bending lines, and carefully placed oxers, the track rewarded strategic rides and confident execution. Rising to the top was Marlayna Murphy aboard Hallmark, delivering a textbook round that secured her the blue ribbon. Coming in second was Finley Mattos on Liarado J.P., followed by Olivia Bergstedt and Quadras, who rounded out the top three.
Murphy, who has been leasing Hallmark for just two months, spoke highly of her new partner.“He’s very talented. He has a huge stride and a great jump. It’s definitely a lot to keep together, but he’s a really fun ride,” she shared. Despite being relatively new to one another, the pair looked polished and in sync throughout their winning trip.
With a course that opened with a rollback then led riders directly to a bending line, Murphy emphasized the importance of sticking to the plan. “I was really focused on staying consistent and not leaving out any strides or picking up too much pace,” she said. “We had everything planned out really well.”
A frequent competitor at Fieldstone, Murphy expressed her appreciation for the venue. “I love being at Fieldstone. I come pretty much every week during the summer, it’s really familiar and always fun.”
Competition at Fieldstone Spring Festival II continues through Sunday, culminating in the week’s premier event: the $20,000 Grand Prix. Riders and spectators can also look forward to classes such as the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby and more top-level competition.
