Winning the 3’3” Performance Hunter Handy and the Championship with 27 Points was Johanna Hyyppa on Skyler Wahlberg's Colander. Following their winning round, we sat down with Johanna to talk about this promising International Hunter Derby Prospect.

“I imported Colander in October of last year from Poland and in March, Skyler Wahlberg purchased him from me. Chief as he's known in the barn, is even keeled and unphased which makes him such a great ride to have. He has a naturally beautiful jump which gives us hope that he'll be an International Hunter Derby horse one day! This was his second A rated show of his career and he was Champion in the 3'3" Performance Hunters, we are so proud. My most favorite thing is how he eats bananas including the peel!”

The double class winner in the 3’3” Performance Hunters yesterday, MTM Fashion and Jennifer Ritucci-Volandre rounded out the division with 20 points and the Reserve Championship.

The Grand Prix field opened up for competition today and we watched the $2,000 Welcome Stake riders take on Eric Hasbrouck’s track. With only one clear round, it was Shelburne, Vermont’s Alice Kassidy and The Irishman who came out on top. Alice Kassidy owns and operates her own Hemlock Hill Farm out of Shelburne, Vermont.

When asked about her first Welcome Stake Win, here's what she had to say:

“I have had the Irishman for about a year and a half now. He is a 13 year old Irish Sport Horse Gelding. This is our first Welcome Stake win together and our first show back since the Florida Circuit in Venice. I thought the course Eric Hasbrouck set for us was an inviting and friendly first course on the grass. The Irishman is super scopey, rideable, has a good hind end and an overall great attitude which makes him great for these sorts of classes.”

This wraps up our Professional Divisions for the week and we move on to our Juniors and Amateurs!
